Traditional old world techniques as well as modern Australian winemaking are incorporated to produce a style which reflects the variety and region.
The Pike & Joyce brand represents the combination of two long established South Australian families to form a partnership in wine. The Pike family, long established in winemaking and viticulture and the Joyce family, fifth generation horticulturists, have come together to develop this 25 hectare vineyard at Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills wine region of South Australia.
The vineyard site, which was previously apple and pear orchards, is characterised by steep North and East facing slopes. The gravelly clay and loam soils of Lenswood are ideally suited to the classic cool climate varieties that have been planted including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gruner Veltliner, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Shiraz, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are hand pruned and hand picked. The fruit is then chilled overnight in the Joyce cool rooms, before being transported to Pikes Clare Valley winery for vinification.
