Product Description
Basilisco produces Aglianico in Barile in the heart of Vulture since the early 90s. In 2010, the winery was acquired by Feudi di San Gregorio. The 25ha of vineyards and 25ha of olives and woods are located on the hillsides of the extinct volcano of Monte Vulture at 450-600 meters above sea level. The volcanic composition of the soil, rich in humus and mineral substances, and the particular microclimate with a great temperature range make this land ideal for grape growing. Vinification and cellaring occur inside eight caves that were created in the fifteenth century by Albanian refugees who were fleeing the Turks. Wines are 100% organic.

Product details
Basilicata is embedded between Calabria and Puglia in the south of Italy. Recently, Basilicata has been an emerging tourist destination thanks to Matera’s Paleolithic settlements. The “Sassi” are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The New York Times ranked Basilicata third in its list of “52 Places to Go in 2018”, describing it as “Italy’s best-kept secret”. Following tradition, the people of Basilicata often eat lamb dishes, like cazmarr, a meat loaf made with offal and cutturiddi, a sort of lamb stew. The most important product is durum wheat homemade pasta. It is best known for red wines from the Aglianico variety, and in particular the Aglianico del Vulture appellation. It is home to just four DOCs.
