Product Description
The grapes used to compose this vintage come from three aged parcels located in the beautiful terroir of Les Chétillons at Le Mesnil sur Oger. The minerality of the chalky soil is evident in this 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay. As always with a vintage Champagne, it is produced exclusively using the grapes from one harvest year and only during the finest years.

Champagne Pierre Peters  Cuvee Speciale Les Chetillons  2005

Winery Information

Les Chétillons is situated in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil sur Oger and enjoys an almost perfect aspect. Three parcels of vines, ranging from 40 to 70 years of age, yield the grapes used to make this legendary cuvée.

These vines, impacted by the quality of the terroir and our mass selection practices, provide the definitive statement of the particular style of this village, a style which resides in mineral power, incredible purity, and a capacity to age.

Testing Nose

Appearance : The robe is clear yellow gold with hints of green which are typical of the Chardonnay varietal. The mousse is fine and regular with a pretty ribbon of strong bubbles.

The Nose : Strong and elegant. The attack is finesse, complexity, and power, with a wide range of aromas: first with aromas of white flowers (acacia and hawthorn) and with peach; the nose then evolves to orange zest, pear and fresh almonds. Once aerated, the first notes of spice (gingerbread) and dried flowers appear before making way for a creamy chalkiness.

Palate : The attack is very pure. A sensation of smoothness and strength follows. Aromatics of ripe dried fruit such as apricots and hazelnut along with white flowers, acacia honey and toasty notes. The steely core fails to conceal the concentration and complexity which promises to evolve over many years of aging.
