90 Points Wine Advocate

After a so-so 2014, the excellent 2015 Château Desmirail makes amends. It comes with a very comely, feminine and perfumed nose brandishing a whole bunch of rose petals in the glass. The palate is very well balanced, fleshy but still structured with fine grain tannin. It feels a little oaky towards the finish, but that should be subsumed with 4-5 years in bottle. One to check out after 3-4 years when it has found its groove.

About Product

As everybody knows, the summer 2015 was really good in the Bordeaux region.

At Margaux, we have been particularly lucky: a welcoming rain arrived just at the right moment to contribute to a wonderful maturity for the grapes.

Thus ended up in superb grapes when picking time started the 21st of September (with Merlots on “Desmirail” plot.

Into three days, these superb and prolific Merlots were harvested. The one ha spot with Petits-Verdots has been harvested by a wonderful day, the 1st of October.

As this fine weather still continuing, we let Cabernets Sauvignons maturing. Six days after Merlots, from the 2nd to the 9th of October, they were picked up. It turns out that they were really nice, but a bit less prolific (in quantity) than Merlots.

This year can be distinguished by relatively high degrees and a nice tannic density. Another year finishing by 5, after the famous 45, 55, 75, 85, 95 and 2005, which makes it different from its elders by its richness in tannins and degrees.
