Tahuna is the New Zealand, Māori word for riverbank. The name is uniquely New Zealand and is also appropriate as our grapes are grown on alluvial plains alongside the major rivers of the Hawke's Bay and Marlborough regions.
Tahuna produce super premium New Zealand wines, sourced from vineyards carefully selected to suit the varieties that we produce. Warm, sheltered sites are used for Merlot, while cooler sites provide ideal flavour development in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Soils are mainly well-drained alluvial gravels, ideal for production of ripe flavours and soft tannins.
Tahuna wines are produced according to the New Zealand Sustainable Viticulture programme. All of our Hawke's Bay and Marlborough vineyards have been certified, as has our winery facility in Hawke's Bay.
The name is as distinctive as the wines, which are fresh, full flavoured and easy to drink.
