Ogier et Fils was founded by Christophe Ogier as a negociant firm in 1859.
In 1948 Ogier became negociant-éleveur, he establsihed his own cellars for blending and ageing of the wines bought Made from producers. Some years later his firm was fusioned with another negociant firm Caves des Papes. Until 2008 the firm was named Ogier - Caves des Papes. In 1994 Ogier - Caves des Papes became a part of another firm Vignobles Jeanjean based in Languedoc.
In 1999 a domain in Chateauneuf du Pape became for sale as none of the heirs wanted to run the estate. It was Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes which for many years had been run by the widow after Leonce Amouroux, who beside the wines Made from his own estate also bought wines Made from other producers and marketed these wines by the brand Leonce Amouroux.
In 2000 Société Léonce Amouroux with its 20 ha of vineyards bought by Ogier - Caves des Papes. The wines Made from Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes have since been made seperately at Ogier with the original labels Made from 1926, when the first wines were bottled this domain. The brand Leonce Amouroux is still used for a single cuvée of Chateauneuf du Pape.
