I was blown away by the gorgeous Sinatra Family Estates Cabernet Sauvignon. 'Celebrity' cuvees are often huge disappointments, but that’s not the case with this wine. This Calistoga-based, dense purple-colored effort offers beautiful notes of scorched earth, blueberries, blackberries, plums, and licorice. Full-bodied, opulent, and seriously-endowed with sweet tannins as well as a stunning finish, this is a delicious blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. I enjoyed it despite the rather cloying 'Come Fly With Me' on the front label. It should drink well for 15-20 years.

Good medium ruby-red. Varietally expressive aromas of currant, musky espresso, tobacco leaf and smoky oak. Sweet, lush and deep, with a silky texture to the flavors of blueberry liqueur, redcurrant, mocha and spicecake. Finishes with ripe, fine-grained tannins and very good length. This rich, serious wine has plenty of structure for mid-term aging.

Dense and concentrated, firm and full-bodied, with a tight focus on a core of loamy earth, dried currant, blackberry and cedary oak flavors that fan out nicely on the finish before the tannins take grip. Drink now through 2017.
