Frescobaldi

The Frescobaldi family has been making wines for centuries, but it's what it has been doing recently that is destined for the history books. The family's best wines come from an array of appellations in Tuscany, from Chianti to Brunello di Montalcino. The family is also the majority owner of Ornellaia, which makes the cabernet sauvignon-based red of the same name and which used to make the pure-merlot sensation Masseto. Now with its own winery which opened this year, Masseto will no doubt go on to even greater things, while the family is celebrating 700 years of wine history from the ancestral home that still remains in the appellations of Chianti Rufina and Pomino.
