91+ Wine Advocate.
(10/2014) "The 2012 Proprietary Red Blend Vin Perdu is a creative blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Floral, peppery, spicy, meaty notes, good acidity and attractive freshness and purity are hallmarks of wine consultant/winemaker Heidi Barrett. This cuvée has the most potential complexity of this trio, but like its siblings, it is still youthful, holding much of its charm and character in reserve. Nevertheless, the dense ruby/purple color and the beautiful fruit that can be coaxed out suggest a medium to full-bodied red that should hit its peak in 4-5 years and last 15 or more years."
92+ Our Score.
(9/2016) Among many a feather in Heidi Barret's cap are two 100-point wines while at the helm of Screaming Eagle in its infancy. One bottle would later net a world record for its $500,000 purchase price. Robert Parker has dubbed her "The First Lady of Wine". This is her gift to us: an "obtainable cult wine!" Wine Advocate awarded a score of 91+ back in 2014. Two years later, after some time in the bottle, we think it's drinking even better and will continue to evolve with further aging. It has impressive complex flavors of dark berries, cassis, pepper and cedar. A wine with longevity, this should drink well for the next 10-15 years. Don't miss your opportunity to get a hold of a bottle of this small production gem!
