The Campogiovanni 2021 Rosso di Montalcino has a dark ruby colour and immediately shows powerful fruit flavours and plenty of dark cherry. This is a nicely saturated Sangiovese with enough texture on the mid-palate to pair with a savoury bean soup or roast pork. The fresh acidity rounds it out. This is a good value proposition.

In the latter half of the 1990s, six hectares of vineyards were planted to Sangiovese for Rosso di Montalcino DOC on the Campogiovanni estate. This wine amply exhibits the great versatility of Sangiovese which can produce high-quality results even in a wine less structured and complex than Brunello. This beautifully balanced Rosso di Montalcino , matured 12 months in Slavonian oak casks, exhibits elegant aromas and lively appealing flavour on the palate.
