Cantina Di Montalcino

Cantina di Montalcino was founded in 1970 and is a modern and efficient winery located in the beautiful Val di Cava, just outside the medieval town of Montalcino. 1975 was the first harvest year for the Tuscan estate. Fifteen years later, the company was taken over by the Cantine Leonardo da Vinci cooperative, located in the province of Siena. Since its beginnings, Cantina di Montalcino has been the only cooperative winery in the Montalcino region. The grapes come from 94 affiliated small wineries, which cultivate a total of 160 hectares of vineyards, mostly with local grape varieties. Since 2005 the management of the winery has been in the hands of . Both are respected oenologists who understand their craft very well.

The vineyards of the winery cover all four slopes of the Montalcino hill, each with its own climate. This circumstance ensures a good wine quality even in times when the weather is less favourable. The cooperative convinces with modern yet typical wines. Thanks to the expertise, the coveted Brunello DOCG is produced in the winery, but the DOC wines are also convincing. In addition to wine production, the cooperative also distills grappa from the marc of Brunello.

A few years ago the Cantina di Montalcino was restructured. The modern architecture was harmoniously integrated into the idyllic landscape. More than half of the extensions are located beneath the earth's surface. This allows better control of temperature and energy consumption. Most of the electrical energy is generated by a photovoltaic system installed during operation.
