Argentina where the first grapevine was brought in 1557 has since long been one of the top five wine-producing countries in the world. In 1990, they focused on wine production for exportation until they become the major wine-producing country in South America where many popular brands are born. One of those brands is Terrazas that Margaux Brangel, the brand ambassador, led us to know more about.

Terrazas de los Andes was founded right at Mendoza’s heart in an old and restored Spanish-style winery that had belonged from 1898 to Sotero Arizu, one of the forefathers of winemaking in Argentina. It all begins in the vineyards located in terraces at the foothill of the Andes Range where the earth is plateau and the soil has plenty of stone and clay. Despite the rain is rare and the surface has no nutrient enough, the vines root deep down in search of those they lack. The climate is hot during the day, but cold in the night resulting in the slow-growing of the grape.

Here is the list of wines that Margaux Brengel brought us to try out:

Terrazas Reserva Malbec

Deep purple colour with dark red hues with ripe fruits aromas as fig and raspberry melt on its violet floral notes. Coconut and spices aromas magnify its complexity. Finally the deep character of this malbec is becoming milder by some pleasant tannins and marmalade aftertaste.

Terrazas Reserva Chardonnay

Bright yellow with greenish highlights, prevailing citrus notes reminiscent of limes, and white fruits like pears. Coupled by subtle toasted almonds and hazelnuts notes, with herbal aromas that enhance its freshness. Balanced and robust. Round and creamy wine. Lingering and elegant finish. Paring with slow cooked cod. Fatty meats with spicy sauces.

Terrazas Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon

Elegant deep red with black highlights in the glass, this wine oozes intense fruit notes such as blackberry, cherry & plum with sweet spivy hints. The aromas are excellently combined with bitter chocolate & smooth toasted notes, coming from barrel ageing.Intense and well balanced, the tannins are delicate, smooth & well-rounded. A long & elegant final with a great concentration of fruits.
